ELEN 455B Renewable Energy Systems

455B. 3 Credit Hours. This course presents the major renewable energy sources, distributed and dispersed generation, technology and methods used to assess, harness and operate them. The role of new energy resource technologies, the application of power electronics and control, the use of demand-side management, and the effects of market forces on renewable energy and modern power systems are discussed. Grid integration of renewable energy systems and related issues are presented and discussed in details. Discussions of economic and environmental and social policy are integral components of the course. Course Prerequisite(s): PHYS 221, PHYS 222 with a ‘C’ or better
