ELEN 401B Digital Systems I
401. DIGITAL SYSTEMS I (Credit, 3 hours).
Covers practical design using MSI components.
Topics include a review of flip-flops and counters;
the design of sequential networks using next state
diagrams; flip-flops; timing diagrams; state reduction
and state assignments; iterative networks;
arithmetic controllers and networks; asynchronous
sequential networks; and derivation and
reduction of primitive flow tables, races, and hazards.
This course also covers the design of microsequential
controllers using counters, selectors, and
decoders. Prerequisite: ELEN 303, CMPS 200, or
permission of instructor.
