ELEN 403B Digital Systems II
403. DIGITAL SYSTEMS II (Credit, 3
hours). Examines the use of development systems
and microprocessors needed to become
experienced in assembly languages, higher
level languages implemented on microprocessors,
and debuggers. Students learn to implement
hardware and software to design complete
systems. Hardware interfacing problems
discussed include memory expansion and the
addition of UARTS and PIAS to interface
plotters, A/D and D/A converters, and robotic
arms. Software tools such as assemblers and
protocol converters are developed in a group
project format. Prerequisite: ELEN 304 or
CMPS 302.
