The Computer Engineering Program in the Department of Electrical Engineering offers a program of study in methods of design, application, and analysis of computers and computer-based systems. Emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of computer engineering, as well as advanced topics. The goal is to prepare graduates capable of performing well in industry and in graduate school. There is a total of 128 credit hours in the computer engineering curriculum required for graduation.
Computer Engineering Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
The computer engineering curriculum at Southern University is dedicated to preparing students for productive careers in the state, nation, and the world. Within a few years after graduation, graduates of the computer engineering program will:

            | PEO-1: | Possess the skills necessary to design and develop computer engineering systems, demonstrating proficiency in problem formulation, creative thinking, global information synthesis, collaborative teamwork, and effective communication. |

            | PEO-2: | Understand and adhere to ethical and professional responsibilities in utilizing data analysis, computational skills, and experimental techniques to address computer engineering challenges. |

            | PEO-3: | Demonstrate the knowledge and capabilities required for leadership and public service roles, acquired through exposure to fundamental concepts in management, business, and public policy. Graduates will be equipped to adapt to evolving technologies, methodologies, and concepts in the field of computer engineering. |
