CMPS 334B Data Networks

334. DIGITAL DATA NETWORKS (Credit, 3 Hours). This course covers the standard topics in data communications and computer networks. Topics will include transmission media, analog and digital signals, analog-to-digital conversion, data transmissions, data encoding, effect of noise, error detection and correction, multiplexing, network topologies, standards and protocols, access methods and contention strategies, and data security. Laboratory exercises will be an integral part of this course. Prerequisites: Junior Standing in CS.
