MEEN 378B Aerospace Structure
378. AEROSPACE STRUCTURES (Credit, 3
hours). Airplanes are subjected to rapidly changing
(dynamic) loads during motion through atmosphere
with turbulence as well as during takeoffs and landings.
To account for these loads, MEEN 378
extends the understanding of students to the application
of lessons learned from statics, strength of
materials, and dynamics to such highly mobile flight
vehicles. Students also learn the principles of elasticity,
structural design considerations, structural
dynamics, and basic finite element techniques.
Prerequisites: MEEN 271 and 227.
