Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation
Therapeutic Recreation, also known as Recreational Therapy, is a skilled therapy that utilize activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, leading to psychological and physical health, recovery, and well-being. Upon completion of the curriculum, students are eligible to apply to take the national certification examination.
Admissions Process
Students may apply for admission to the major at any time after becoming a student at SUBR. Students seeking a major change or to transfer into the department must follow the admission process, which includes (a) the submission of a reflective essay to the Chairperson on why the applicant is choosing to study recreation therapy, (b) major change form, and (c) the student must have a 2.0 grade point average.
Degree Requirements
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation program must satisfactorily complete the 120 hour program of study which meets the requirements of the University and the department.
