Soil sub-surface exploration techniques, soil bearing capacity theory, lateral earth pressure theory, design and analysis of shallow foundations, design and performance of earth retaining systems, braced cuts, sheet-pile; introduction to deep foundations. Prerequisite: CIEN 424B
