PPOL 749B Community Change Agents:HBCUs

COMMUNITY CHANGE AGENTS: HBCUS AND THE BLACK CHURCH (3 Credit Hours). This graduate course is designed to compare and contrast the historic role the church and HBCUs played in the economic, educational and civic welfare of African Americans and investigte influencing contemporary change in the African American community through snergistic partnership between the two. In particular, this course will investigate commonalities and contradictions and advance intellectual inquiry into a new role for these two institutions to fill in creating greater economic prosperiy for African Americans today. ( Master's level students with advanced standing may tke this course with permission from the instructor).
