FRACTURE MECHANICS (Credit, 3 hours). Introduction to how and why cracks form and grow in materials, including key concepts such as stress intensity, fracture toughness, and fatigue crack growth, and apply them to predict failure and design safer engineering structures. Prerequisite: MEEN 235B.
