Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE)
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership and assurance that the institution engages in ongoing, systematic, comprehensive, and integrated research-based planning and evaluation.
The office is dedicated to the following core functions:
• Continuous Quality Improvement: OIE facilitates the continuous improvement of institutional quality and effectiveness by ensuring a systematic review of institutional goals and outcomes that remain consistent with the University's mission.
• Data Analytics and Decision Support: It serves as the primary repository of historical institutional data, providing data analytics to inform strategic and operational decision-making, policy formulation, and resource allocation at both the macro (institutional) and micro (unit) levels.
• Strategic Planning Management: OIE manages the University’s strategic planning processes, including the development and tracking of major initiatives such as the Imagine 20K: 2018-2030 strategic plan and the Southern University System’s Fulfilling the Promise: 2018-2025 plan.
• The 5-Phase IE Model: The office executes a distinct Institutional Effectiveness Model comprised of five critical phases:
1. Planning
2. Implementation
3. Assessment
4. Improvement
5. Resource Allocation/Budgeting.
• Accreditation and Compliance: OIE coordinates all efforts to maintain institutional accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and ensures compliance with state and federal reporting requirements, including the completion of mandated surveys and reports to maintain related funding.
• Reporting and Publications: The office is responsible for the collection and dissemination of pertinent information through various publications, such as the University Fact Book, annual reports, and accountability scorecards used to track progress toward institutional goals.
