ENTR 200B ENTR Venture Creation

ENTR 200B. Entrepreneurial Venture Creation (3 Credit Hours). This course addresses the key concepts, models and practices of establishing new ventures as either an independent entrepreneur or an entrepreneur working within an existing organization (variety of sectors including private, public, non-profit and specialized). The creation and stabilization of new ventures is a key source of national economic growth and an important organizational and individual opportunity. In general, entrepreneurs report higher levels of health and satisfaction. Developing the general ability to successfully establish a new venture in relation to a market of interest is a key life and professional competency in the 21st century. Students will learn how to recognize new venture opportunities within an area of personal interest, generate competitive product/service ideas, develop a business plan, establish a funding strategy, build a new venture management team, consider the option of franchising and many other activities that support successful new ventures. Students will develop a concise pitch presentation based on a new venture proposal.
