212. ELECTRONIC PROPERTIES OF MATTER (Credit, 3 hours). A study of the theory and fabrication of solid state electronic devices including the electrical behavior of charge carriers in solids. Structures of many electron atoms. Schrodinger Wave Equation. Band Theory of Solids. Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Matter. Semiconductor Physics of p-n junction and newer devices. Prerequisites: PHYS 222 and MATH 265. Co-requisite: MATH 364.
