DANC 104B Beginning Hip-Hop I

104. BEGINNING HOP-HIP I (Credit, 1 hour each). This is a beginning level dance class which fuses dance with athleticism. This class is designed to challenge the student in all areas of movement while focusing on the latest pop/funk/hip-hop dance styles. In addition, this course will focus on foundations and origins of hip-hop dance and street dance culture, and the journey to today's current definitions of hip hop and freestyle dance. The class will be explored primarily through movement participation by the students with dance instruction, plus related video/YouTube assignments, and/or guest instructors. Students will be challenged and encouraged to understand and apply historical and practical knowledge of hip-hop.
