PHYS 525. SOLID STATE PHYSICS II (Credit, 3 hours). Advanced theory of the condensed matter; computational methods for the quantitative description of the electronic structures of molecules, clusters, and solids; LCAO, APW, and other methods; applications of the Monte Carlo method; the dielectric functions and the electrical, optical, and magnetic properties of solids; magnetic moment formation in solids; quantum theory of superconductivity; the BCS theory and extensions.
(Prerequisite: PHYS 505 and 520)
