COUN 511. DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOPATHOLOGY (Credit, 3 hours). Provides an in-depth exploration of the concepts of psychopathology, emphasizing the role families play in the development of mental health impairments including schizophrenia, depression, anxiety disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, substance abuse disorders, and personality disorders, with associated psychopharmacology. Uses the DSM V as the organizing format for the class with special attention paid to the role of culture in etiology, diagnosis, and the development of treatment plans.
