MATH 500B Foundations of Mathematics

MATH 500. FOUNDATIONS OF MATHEMATICS (Credit, 3 hours). Introduces students to basic techniques of writing proofs and acquaints them with some fundamental ideas that are used throughout mathematics. Topics include: sets, cardinality and ordinality, first andsecond order predicate calculus, mathematical induction, relations and orders. (Prerequisite: Consent of the instructor.)
