SOCL 512B Urban Poverty & Policy Issues
This course provides a critical assessment of recent development in the history, dynamics, trends, extent, causes, nature, consequences, and correlates of urban poverty in the United States. Topics include trends and measurement, family structure, income support programs, housing and workforce development, unemployment, homelessness, welfare dependence, isolation, educational deprivation in the context of recent and current proposed policies in addressing them.
