ELEN 521. DIGITAL TRANSMISSION AND COMMUNICATION
NETWORKS ENGINEERING (Credit 3 hours). An introduction to the
fundamentals of digital communication systems. Topics of study include:
probability and stochastic processes; source coding; optimum receivers for
white noise channels; synchronization techniques; channel capacity and
coding; signal design for band-limited channels; fading and multi-path
channels; adaptive equalization; multi-channel and multi-carrier systems,
and multi-access channels.
