Introduction

Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management 

The Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management program is a response to a strategic planning review of the Southern University College of Business that creates an innovative education pathway to integrate students into the high-demand field of Supply Chain Management. It provides high-quality, unique, and specialized learning opportunities to diverse students. It attracts students and professionals to a growing field that is integral to Louisiana’s economic growth.

The program expands the College’s Graduate Program offerings and addresses the need to develop supply chain professionals in Louisiana for the 21st-century global economy. This will be accomplished by utilizing the College’s existing capacity of faculty and course inventory through five specific objectives:

  1. Advance the university mission by creating an opportunity to gain knowledge, skills, and credentials in high-demand fields in Louisiana and the nation.
  2. Increase the regional workforce talent pool of supply chain management professionals to meet the hiring needs of industries in the State of Louisiana.
  3. Improve the employability of College of Business graduates by enhancing and expanding the current program offerings.
  4. Increase the number of graduate students in the University’s College of Business program by expanding current graduate programs in high-demand fields.
  5. Prepare students for the Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certification exam offered by APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society)

The Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management program targets individuals with undergraduate degrees in Business, Computer Science, or Engineering and other majors. It also targets students currently pursuing a Master’s or doctoral degree in Business, Computer Science, or Engineering and other majors.

Admissions Requirements

For admission to the Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. Institution or the equivalent from a foreign institution.
  2. An undergraduate cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  3. One-page double-spaced Career Objectives Statement.
  4. A current resume or curriculum vitae. Three letters of recommendation
  5. GMAT or GRE scores are not required.

Core Courses

Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management Requirement

The Southern University College of Business Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management program comprises 15 semester hours. Typically, one course is the equivalent of three credit hours.

Mode of Delivery

This certificate program will consist of online courses. The course instruction will be delivered by the existing College of Business faculty whose qualifications, performance, and competence follow AACSB accreditation standards.

A combination of learning technologies will support synchronous and asynchronous course/content communication activities. The Moodle course management system will be the main learning management system (LMS) platform used to deliver the courses and is well within the university’s current capabilities.
