SPED 349B Understanding Dyslexia and Other Reading Difficulties
349. UNDERSTANDING DYSLEXIA AND OTHER READING DIFFICULTIES (Credit, 3 hours). This course provides an overview of the history, epidemiology, and clinical presentation, including early clinical indicators of dyslexia and other reading difficulties as well as their common, persistent classroom presentation; an overview of evidence-based instruction for individuals with dyslexia and other reading difficulties including remediation of weaknesses, fortification of strengths, and common accommodations to help mediate between the two; and an introduction to the process of becoming a dyslexia practitioner or dyslexia therapist.
