SBIO 101B General Biology
101B. GENERAL BIOLOGY (Credit, 3 hours). Provides an engaging introduction to the fundamental principles of biology designed specifically for non-science majors. Students explore biological concepts that shape the world around them through the study of scientific inquiry, biological molecules, cell biology, genetics, and evolution.
The course emphasizes scientific literacy and the application of biological knowledge to real-world issues involving personal health, medicine, environmental sustainability, biotechnology, agriculture, public health, and society.
Through authentic learning experiences, students will analyze biological phenomena, evaluate scientific information, communicate evidence-based conclusions, and apply biological concepts to contemporary challenges affecting individuals and communities.
